My favorite falafel

I shouldn’t blog when I’m hungry.

All I want in the world right now is falafel. Or a lamb gyro. And baklava.

From Tangiers. Right now. It’s a brutal, agonizing craving.

I’ll explain. My friend Helder introduced me to Tangiers International a few months ago– and my search for perfect falafel in Hartford promptly came to a halt.  Both eatery and middle eastern grocery, Tangiers is home to some of the best falafel I’ve ever eaten– light, spicy & not at all greasy (it’s cooked in extra virgin olive oil), along with a full eat-in/takeout menu of goodies.  The service is always friendly and fantastic (and attractive, which doesn’t hurt), and the baklava is OTHERWORDLY. Sweet, buttery, flaky, and heartstoppingly dreamy when accompanied by Turkish coffee.

I could go on but you’ll just have to stop in.

Thank God I’m moving to this neighborhood soon.  Watch out, West End.

I didn’t even know they had falafel! I have not lived!
The baklava is pretty darn good. You do not lie.

I love that place, and the family that runs it. Be sure to try the stew of lamb, lima beans and tomato over rice. Dee-vine. Also, their grape leaves are my “bring an app to my party” go-to and they never fail to please.

OMG! I’ve been thinking about falafel lately. I know about this place but now I have to go. I want to cook more middle eastern. If you are ever in Narraganset RI, I know of a great place for falafel. Thanks for the tip
