The California Edition
I’ve been eating my way from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo for two glorious weeks. Highlights are hard to pick out but I’ve gotta give credit where it’s so deliciously due.
Here are the favorites:
Humphry Slocombe- The craziest and tastiest ice cream imaginable. Think flavors like Secret Breakfast (bourbon + cornflakes), Jesus Juice (wine + cocacola), thai chili lime, brown butter, banana bacon peanut brittle, and my personal favorite, called Oh! Hell Yes (creme fraiche and blueberries). Amazing staff (Emily and Gabby come to mind).
Flour + Water - Lavender smoked duck with figs, pine nuts & watercress. And pork & fig raviolini with leccino olives and thyme. And insanely charming waitstaff.
Tataki Sushi Bar- Sustainable sushi in San Francisco. Beautiful sashimi (chef’s choice is always a good choice), albacore tataki. Our Extinguisher Roll was served on fire.
Can’t possibly name all the favorite taquerias of the past two weeks. I’ve tried to eat a taco at least once a day. You get the picture.
