Blockbuster Pizzas at Mulberry Street
I’ve already had it with this season.
Snowpocalypse mayhem, disastrous cabin fever, and all kinds of frosty doom and gloom– in the past few days alone.
Luckily, as most of you know, my appetite rules everything around me. Shallow and simple as it sounds, a happily fed Emily can be distracted from even the iciest case of winter blues. And, since cold weather calls for comfort food, Mulberry Street Pizza remains at the top of my list in the category for cozy Manchester eateries. So we’re back to the tasting table.
Here’s a quick recap of my first visit to Mulberry Street: Adding to an extensive list of appetizers (think meatball sliders), wings, pasta dishes, and specialty sandwiches, the restaurant provides a creative menu of “Blockbuster” pizzas- clever film-inspired pies with mouth-watering toppings and inventive flavor combinations.

"The Wizard of Oz"- White pizza with buffalo chicken, bleu cheese, roasted peppers and melted jack & cheddar cheeses.
Jaws: white pizza with clams and fresh garlic mozzarella & bacon
The Italian Job: White pizza with lemon cream sauce, caramelized onions, proscuitto, topped off with fresh basil and romano cheese.
Ever been here? Let me know–recommendations are welcome!

Hi Emily,
Cool blog. The food looks delicious of course. I wanted to show you this link which actually gives an alternative perspective on the question of saturated fats:
http://www.westonaprice.org/abcs-of-nutrition/475-principles-of-healthy-diets.html#confused
So your arteries are not necessarily busting at the seams due to cheese and bacon consumption. A healthy cheese and bacon would be raw cheese from cows fed a grass-fed diet, pasture-raised chickens who eat bugs, grass, and run in sunlight, and bacon from pasture-raised pigs (pigs that are allowed to forage for their food as they would do in the wild).
Margarine eaters (synthetic, fake-food made from vegetables) are much more likely to get heart disease than grass-fed cow butter eaters.
Ok, that’s my two cents. Hope you’re well!
Estela
Thanks, Estela, you’re the best! We should get together at Bloodroot with Abbey again. Such great food there. Hope you’re doing well.
Mulberry Street has the best pulled pork nachos with mango salsa EVER… good pizza too.
I don’t remember the name but it had sausage and spinach and cheese. yum.
Thanks for the tip! I’m going back there tonight!
Emily — I guess my wife and I just missed you as we just left Mulberry St. Pizza. AWESOME place — and great review! I read your post late-night last night and said: we gotta go there Thurs for dinner. We were supposed to fly out to Florida yesterday so since we got screwed on our flight due to the snow, we figured a meal out somewhere fun was in order. The Honey-Hot boneless wings were pefectly sweet & spicy and the meatball pizza left nothing to be desired. We mentioned that we heard about the place by reading your blog and we pointed them in your direction…hope you don’t mind.
Have you been to Harry’s Pizza in West Hartford? If not — you must go A.S.A.P. If they are still making the winter special — a butternut squash/maple/fontina/bacon pizza — you gotta get it.

Nick, apologies for taking so long to respond to this– but I’m so glad to hear that you had such a good experience at Mulberry St!
As for Harry’s Pizza– that amazing butternut squash/maple/bacon delight is next on my list. Thanks for the tip!
I’m usually a purist when it comes to pizza (thin crust, red sauce, mozz and traditional toppings) but those are way too interesting to pass by. We’ll have to check out Mulberry Street next time we’re on a pizza bender!
OH MY GOD the Italian Job…
PS: Rob really loved it, too
I appreciate the very nice comments about our food.
We support local farmers and businesses as a key part of our stratgy to be a viable business…I think this approach has alot to do with our success.
Regarding concerns about fat and cholesterol…
This week on our dessert menu we had an interesting selection…Olive Oil, Rosemary and Orange Cake…which is a very traditional recipe where butter is replaced by xtra virgin olive oil…
Thanks again for visiting us.
Bob, thanks so much for your comment! We had an amazing time at Mulberry Street the other night. I’m still raving about the Italian Job (as well as the Backdraft, MASH, pulled pork nachos & ginger/peanut wings…we’re big fans). Thanks for a great experience!
I want to head butt that last slice if pizza.
me want foooooooood
YUM. That sounds delicious!!!! going on my CT restaurant list!
