Taste of Hartford

What better way to kick off this blog than with my favorite event of the year? It’s almost time to celebrate Hartford’s very own restaurant week– now in January! Evidently, Taste of Hartford was so successful in summer ’09 that it’s being held again this month from the 18th through the 24th. This is a wonderful way to begin 2010: with a gourmet 3-course meal that only sets you back $20.10 (+ tax/tip) at a number of the city’s popular restaurants, including Agave, Costa del Sol, Trumbull Kitchen, and Bin 228. (FYI- Reservations are recommended). The full list of restaurant participants and specialty menus can be found at http://www.letsgoarts.org/Page.aspx?pid=295 . My taste buds are already thrilled but it’ll take me all week to decide where to eat. Any ideas?

As if good food isn’t good reason enough, Taste of Hartford restaurants have pledged 25 cents from each dinner to the Arts Council’s United Arts Campaign, which provides grants & services to more than 150 local arts and heritage organizations. It’s just a quarter, but it’ll add up if we eat up…

Do or Dine

Welcome to A Change of Eatery!

Recently, I’ve made it my mission to expand beyond my few usual eateries and discover more of what my lovely state capital and its surrounding towns have to offer. So, here’s the plan: accompanied by some wonderful dining companions, I’ll be eating my way through the Hartford region, which offers some of Connecticut’s most unique dining destinations. I’ll report on (and indulge in) cuisine throughout the area from a mix of renowned restaurants and lesser known but equally enticing spots. I’ll also keep you posted on local happenings and special events in and around Hartford. I hope you’ll share recommendations of your own with me and discover some new favorites here. Your feedback and suggestions are always appreciated!
